As a yoga teacher, I hear this all the time from moms: "Yoga class? Yeah, right! Between cooking, cleaning, laundry, and chasing after kids, who has time for that?
If I Find an hour for a yoga class, I would rather sleep."
And honestly, I get it. Being a mom means you’re always on the go, juggling a million things at once. But what if I told you yoga doesn’t have to be a separate task? What if you could sneak in movement, mindfulness, and breathing exercises while doing your daily chores?
Here’s how:
1. Cleaning Utensils= Mindful Breathing + Posture Check
Instead of mindlessly scrubbing utensils, turn it into a moment of mindfulness.
✔ Stand tall, roll your shoulders back, and engage your core.
✔ Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and exhale for 4 seconds.
✔ Feel the water, notice the foam, and be present.
Bonus: No more back pain from slouching over the sink!
2. Cooking = Stretching
Instead of standing still while waiting for water to boil, stretch!
✔ Stand in Tadasana —feet hip-width apart, spine straight, shoulders relaxed.
✔ Do gentle side bends or easy twist.
✔ You can do calf stretch against the counter.
Bonus: Dinner gets made and you loosen up those stiff muscles.
3. Laundry = Deep Squats & Forward Folds Turn every bend-and-lift moment into a strength-building move.
✔ Instead of hunching over, do Malasana pose.
✔ Need a hamstring stretch? Hinge at your hips and reach for your toes.
Bonus: Laundry becomes leg day
4. Brushing Your Teeth = Balance Practice Use those 2 minutes to improve your balance.
✔ Stand in tree pose for 1 minute, then switch.
✔ Engage your core for stability.
Bonus: Better balance & healthy teeth!
5. Watching TV = Seated Yoga poses Make binge-watching a little healthier!
✔ Sit in butterfly stretch.
✔ Gently twist your spine from side to side.
✔ Roll your neck and shoulders to release tension.
Bonus: You relax and stretch—without missing an episode!
